FINANCIAL TERMS
Factory Orders
Description
Factory orders mean new orders received by manufacturers for goods.
In simple terms, they show how much demand factories are getting.
Factory orders are important because they help investors understand manufacturing activity and future production. Rising factory orders can suggest stronger demand, while falling orders can signal slowing activity.
For example, if manufacturers receive more orders for machinery and equipment, factory orders increase.
Factory orders are not the same as actual shipments. Orders show demand placed, while shipments show goods delivered.
