Durable Goods Orders

Description

Durable goods orders mean new orders placed for long-lasting manufactured products. In simple terms, they show demand for expensive goods meant to last several years. Durable goods orders are important because they can signal business investment, consumer confidence, and manufacturing strength. Big changes can affect expectations for economic growth. For example, orders for aircraft, machinery, vehicles, and appliances can be included in durable goods orders. Durable goods orders can be volatile. Large aircraft or defense orders can move the number sharply from month to month.
