FOMC Statement

Description

FOMC statement means the official written message released after a Federal Reserve policy meeting. In simple terms, it explains the Fed’s latest rate decision and economic view. The FOMC statement is important because investors study its wording for clues about future policy. Small changes in language about inflation, employment, growth, or risks can affect markets. For example, if the statement says inflation remains elevated, investors may think the Fed is not ready to cut rates soon. The FOMC statement is not the only Fed signal. Investors also watch the press conference, dot plot, minutes, and speeches from Fed officials.
