Sales and Marketing Expense

Description

Sales and marketing expense means the money a company spends to attract customers and sell its products or services. In simple terms, it is the cost of getting people to buy. Sales and marketing expense is important because it affects customer growth, revenue growth, and profitability. Investors watch whether marketing spending leads to enough new sales to justify the cost. For example, advertising, sales team salaries, commissions, promotions, and brand campaigns can be sales and marketing expenses. Sales and marketing expense is not the same as revenue. It is money spent to generate sales, not the sales themselves.
