Research and Development

Description

Research and development means spending on creating, improving, or testing new products, services, or technologies. In simple terms, research and development is money spent to build future innovation. Research and development is important because it can help companies create new products, improve competitiveness, and support long-term growth. However, high research and development spending can reduce short-term profit. For example, a technology company may spend heavily on research and development to create new chips, software, or AI products. Research and development is not always an immediate cost with immediate returns. It may take years before the spending creates meaningful revenue.
