Soft-Landing Hopes
Description
Soft-landing hopes mean investors believe the economy may slow enough to reduce inflation without entering a serious recession.
In simple terms, it is optimism that the economy can cool without crashing.
Soft-landing hopes are important because they can support stocks and risk appetite. Investors may become more confident if inflation cools while jobs and consumer spending remain steady.
For example, if inflation falls and unemployment stays low, soft-landing hopes may increase.
Soft-landing hopes are not a guarantee. New inflation, weak earnings, or job losses can quickly reduce confidence in a soft landing.
